Exploring Sisterhood—Because We’re Better Together

But our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where he wants it. How strange a body would be if it had only one part! Yes, there are many parts, but only one body.
1 Corinthians 12:18-20 (NLT)

In this virtual world we live in, most women are hungry for something tangible. As we struggle to discern what is fake news, we long to find God’s truth. In the divisive atmosphere of politics, we want to find friendships that endure. It’s fine to have friends online, but what do you do when you need someone to have coffee with? When life is falling apart and you know God is with you but you really just need a hug? When the world is advising you to act one way, and you need someone to point you back to God?

That’s where Sisters come in.

Right now, gathering in person is difficult, but having friends who are sisters is more important than ever. When we at Sisterhood Ministries first got together, our dream was to help other women connect with and find their own sisters, because we know that when we share life together, we are better. When we walk together, we can inspire and influence one another, pushing each other to keep reaching out to God and drawing ever closer. We aren’t all the same, but we can make the decision to recognize one another as sisters.

Because if you call Him Father, and I call Him Father, then we can call each other sisters!

You may have seen some of this content when it was originally published on our blog, but we’ve bundled the devotions into one place and left room for you to add your thoughts and prayer.

Grab a copy now to use in your own quiet time, or choose a devotion to share with a Bible study or prayer group. Great focus for a women’s meeting or ladies’ Sunday school class. Each devotion features a story, focus scripture, and prayer, along with reflection/discussion questions. As you work through the book, we think you’ll discover what we believe to be true:

There’s always room for one more sister in your life, because sisterhood is…better together.

We know there are so many needs in this world, and although we wanted to offer this resource to you, we also wanted this book to have even more of an impact. So after prayerful consideration, we decided to donate all proceeds from this book to Samaritan’s Purse. They do work all across the globe, including close to home. There are people affected by Covid, people displaced by wildfires and hurricanes… and the list goes on and on. So you can feel even better about your purchase because every penny of profit we’ve made by December 1 will be donated to this organization which brings disaster relief to people all over.

Reflection Questions

Is sisterhood something you long for or do you already have women in your life you can call sister?

If the answer is yes, consider ways you might invite other women to experience what you have.

If the answer is no, pray about ways to connect with new friends.

Prayer

Dear God, we thank you that you make yourself known through others. Today we ask that you reveal yourself through our sisters. Please pour out your Holy Spirit over this community. Show us how to love one another in tangible ways. Create clean hearts in us that You would choose to flow through. Thank you for your son Jesus, the brother of all mankind, who has shown us what it means to be sisters. Amen.
